Our
Foundation of Education
In
the beginning was the Word, Who created all things, and saw that it was
good. (Genesis 1:1, John 1:1-3) God Himself is the ultimate reality,
and the Bible is the sole source of Absolute Truth. (2 Timothy 3:16, 2
Peter 1:19-21) It is God who continues to sustain and uphold the
creation, and everything in the universe revolves around the person of
God. Education is the search for Ultimate Truth and begins with an
understanding that God is the Creator and central unifying figure of all
that exists. (Col. 1:16-18) The knowledge of God is plain to all men,
because God has made himself plainly known in creation. (Romans 1:19,
20) God is also personal, relational, and loving; He came as a man
(John 1:14) to redeem lost mankind. (Luke 19:10) Faith in God’s
redeeming plan through Jesus Christ is essential to our full purpose in
life and eternity. (John 14:6, John 3:16) Every individual is called
to know Him and to carry out His Will for his life. (Eccl. 12:13)
Education prepares a person to fulfill this responsibility to God. (John
17:3)
Christian education is a commitment to the whole person. It develops
students’ understanding and growth in wisdom, equipping them to
transform abstract knowledge into convictions, and reveal Christian
character in their service. (James 1:22, 1 John 5:13) Its goal is to
produce students of intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and
spiritual strength and distinction, governed by godly principles, wisely
engaging every field of study and the world around them from God’s
perspective. (Ephesians 2:10)
The
curriculum at Sahel Academy reflects a biblical and multinational
perspective which is Christ-centered, fulfilling rigorous international
academic requirements and providing learning experiences that take into
account the various individual and cultural learning styles, skills and
abilities of students. (Colossians 3:16)
In
daily school activities students are challenged to develop their
personal faith in Jesus Christ so that they may grow in understanding of
themselves, other people, and the world, thus living balanced lives,
developing skills of leadership and service girded by personal worth,
dignity, humility and self control. (Philippians 3:12-14, 4:8-9) |
